Vaginal depletion packs have been in use since the 1800s. Vaginal depletion packs work by the action of the substances within the packs, which draw fluid and infection out of the uterus. These therapeutic effects make vaginal depletion packs effective in the treatment of such conditions as cervical erosions, acute and chronic cervicitis, abnormal Papanicolaou (Pap) smears and conditions of pelvic congestion.

followed by placement of a tampon and leave in place for 24 hours. Frequency of application may vary according to the condition being treated but every other day use is typical until the problem is resolved. It may be recommended for preventing a recurrence that you apply a vag pack once a week. It should not be used during menstruation
