Mold

Definition of Mold:

Mold and mildew are types of fungus – tiny organisms that thrive and multiply in almost any moist environment.  Mildew (often invisible to the naked eye) is an early stage of mold (which is visible.)  Mold and mildew grow on a wide variety of materials, for example wallpaper, drywall or clothes.  The spores (which cause the moldy/musty smell) can trigger allergic reactions and other health problems.
